Hi-Tech Resource Recovery is a putrescible waste transfer station, permitted by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the New York City Department of Sanitation. Hi-Tech has been receiving commercial waste since 1988. Conveniently located in Brooklyn, NY, Hi-Tech is one mile away from (Exit 33) on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway (BQE⁄I278) and. is accessible via truck route.
The facility is permitted to receive 214 tons per day of municipal solid waste and 100 tons per day of source seperated solid waste. It is open (based on availability) to all Business Integrity Commission (BIC) licensed companies. The truck scale is located on the Meserole St side of the facility.
Hi-Tech Resource Recovery accepts all types of materials:
- Garbage (MSW)
- Wood waste
- Metal
- Light construction
- Furniture
- Appliances
- Source separated organic material
Recyclable materials including as metal, cardboard and rigid plastics are sorted out of the mixed waste. The recyclable materials are transferred to our sister facility next door, Scholes Street Recycling. Sorted garbage is baled and loaded onto flatbeds or loose material is loaded into walking floor trailers. Baled and loose waste is transported to regional waste energy facilities or landfills located in the northeast.
